The Maltese Bodkin

Maltese Bodkin
HiSTORYStage's presentation of The Maltese Bodkin, a radio play at North Raleigh Arts and Creative Theatre has just completed it's amazing opening night and will continue its performances through Thursday 11/13- Sunday 11/16. The ensemble cast brings to life this thoroughly entertaining show with proceeds going to support military charities. Friday night's performance is complete with a USO dance! Tickets are sill available.

A comedy mystery with a Shakespearean twist. Times were tough for hard boiled detective Birnam Wood. He never asked to be in London. Especially in 1605. When his partner is murdered, Wood has to find the killer amid a vast cast of suspects that includes (among others) Viola, Richard III, Falstaff, Iago, Mercutio and a merchant from Venice. But the real solution to the mystery seems to be in discovering the secret behind a mysterious dagger known as the Maltese Bodkin.

The play is set in l605 in London England, but our leading character, Wood, wears an l940s suit, and likewise his perky and pretty secretary Charlotte, wears a dress from that time. The knife in question is in Wood’s care as he tries to catch the killer, but a number of interesting characters want possession of the knife since it supposedly has special, even magical qualities that go to the country or persons having possession of it. Got that?

Now it just so happens that all those people who want to find the bodkin happen to be characters from Shakespeare’s plays and all happen to suddenly become suspects in the murder of the partner. Don't miss this exciting detective fiction where the worlds of noir and Shakespeare collide in this, "who hath done it".

The Maltese Bodkin is directed by Beth Roberts and a portion of the proceeds will go to our partners, The Fisher House Foundation, The USO, and The Special Operations Warrior Foundation.

The Maltese cast includes: J.R. Aiello, Noelle Barnard Azarello, Matt Fields, Rowell Gormon, Wade Newhouse, Stephanie Rinehart, Stephen Wall and Tara Nicole Williams.

Crew includes: Laura Griffin (Costume Design), Barry Jaked (Lighting Design), John Maruca (Sound Design), Kinsey Watson (Stage Manager), and Kelly and Sam Watson (House Managers).
