Historic Interpretations, Inc volunteers are invited to join in educational meet-ups throughout the year. Participants are expected to pay for their admission, meals, etc. though we try our best to get group rates when we can. We also encourage carpooling if you can!

May 21, 2021 | Spring Rifle Frolic at Lafayette Long Rifles, Fuquay-Varina, NC
Lafayette Long Rifles is an 18th century living history club whose members shoot black powder muskets, rifles, and pistols. Members assemble at Peg Leg Pub located at the Lafayette Long Rifles range once a month for marksmanship competitions, primitive camping and fellowship. LEARN MORE |
August 4th, 2018 | 237th Anniversary of the Battle at the House in the Horseshoe, Sanford, NC
The plantation house is named for its location on a horseshoe bend in the Deep River. The house (ca. 1770) was owned by Philip Alston, whose band of colonists seeking independence from Britain was attacked here in 1781 during the American Revolution by British loyalists led by David Fanning. A concert at Duke University Chapel featuring music from the Duke Vespers Ensemble and UNC Sackbut Ensemble. Admission is free. Victoria's Mass for the dead is a monument of Renaissance choral music. Old Salem Museums & Gardens shares the rich, authentic, and diverse cultural history of the early South–with special emphasis on the Moravians in North Carolina, enslaved and free people of African descent, and Indigenous peoples of the Southern Woodland, through the preservation and interpretation of material culture, architecture, and cultural landscapes. Old Salem is also the site of the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA) which contains the finest collection of its kind in the nation, featuring architecture, furniture, ceramics, metalwork, needlework, paintings, prints and other decorative arts made & used by the early settlers of the American South. August 10th, 2010 | Jamestowne and Colonial Williamsburg, Williamsburg, VA
Participants spent an extended weekend in the historic triangle of Virginia exploring the archaeological dig site at historic Jamestowne and touring the attractions at Colonial Williamsburg. In addition, several participants opted for a day of fun at Bush Gardens. |
