Our Mission

To educate future generations by bringing to life the history of generations past.

How It All Began

In 2000, a local renaissance faire created the story of a mythical meeting between Mary Stuart and Elizabeth Tudor. The concept for Historic Interpretations was born from members of the cast who had so much fun portraying the Scottish Royal Court that they weren't ready for the story to be over when that 2000 faire ended.

An invitation to participate as the Scottish Court at the 2002 Mountain Renaissance Adventure Faire provided the group with its first venue as an independent organization.

Since then we’ve expanded our operation to include over 50 people who have skills in costuming, cooking, brewing, arms & armor, dancing and performing religious ceremonies. Our members are actors, re-enactors, historians, and artisans who enjoy the research involved to accurately portray the daily life of a historical persona.

Exploratory meetings were held throughout 2000 and 2001 and the idea for the Guilde of St. Andrew of North Carolina, the first iteration of our performance company, was hatched.  Since then we’ve portrayed the courts of Queen Elizabeth of England and Queen Mary of Scotland, the households of the Duke of Norfolk and the Earl of Leycester, and created an entire Elizabethan village.

Historic Interpretations can provide living history programs for England and America ranging from medieval to the Victorian and American Civil War periods.
